For as long as I can remember I knew I wanted to be a personal trainer. One of my first jobs in high school was in a gym and I just loved everything about it.
I graduated from the NAIT PFT program in 2007 and since then I have trained a variety of clientele. I owned a personal training studio for 10 years and it was really my first baby. During those 10 years I was also a Pro-Trainer for CanFitPro, as well as a Master Trainer for BenderBall Canada and Lebert Fitness. I always loved the education side of fitness.
Fitness has always been my passion and there is nothing better than knowing you have helped someone on their health journey.
When I was pregnant with my first son I sold my studio to take some time to be a stay at home mom. I now live in Beaumont with my husband and 2 boys who love fitness and working out just as much as me.
1. I believe in balance. I love pushing myself in workouts but I also enjoy wine and chocolate.
2. Often times less is more. Unless working out is your job there is really no reason you need to be training daily. When programmed and periodized correctly 3-4 days is plenty.
3. Fitness is not a one size fits all. Everyone is living a different life with different goals and your program should reflect that.
4. Health and fitness should not be complicated. Exercise should be rewarding and add to your life. Having a program to follow ensures that.
5. Exercise has the ability to be very healing. I have worked with numerous cancer patients as well as women leaving abusive relationships, and the one thing that held true was the empowerment that exercise gave them.
6. What you do most of the time is what matters. Life will happen, you will fall off schedule and out of routine and that is ok.
7. I have trained a variety of clientele over my years as a trainer, but one of my favourites is getting women lifting weights. Muscle is the key to so many things!
Most importantly I will always be authentic and relatable. Health and fitness is not about looking a certain way, it is about being the best version of yourself and discovering what you are truly capable of.
